Librarian (Part-Time Faculty Pool) Clovis Community College

Responsibilities

• Provide on-demand reference and extended research services to students.
• Conduct bibliographic instruction in a classroom environment.
• Collaborate with faculty to increase awareness of library resources, including developing Library Guides and Open Educational Resources (OER) materials.
• Promote library resources to faculty, students, and campus groups.
• Collaborate with other librarians to establish library policies, procedures, and budget proposals.
• Develop, purchase, and maintain library collections.
• Plan and implement the college’s information competency goals.
• Design and teach library research skills, technology courses, workshops, and online tutorials.
• Utilize Canvas and other online platforms for teaching and communication.
• Provide services in various instructional settings, including evenings, weekends, online, off-campus, and large group instruction.
• Communicate effectively with students and staff while maintaining productive working relationships.
• Fulfill duties as required by Administrative Regulation 7122 and other assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

• Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to equity-minded practice.
• A Master’s in library science, library and information science; or
• A valid California Community College Credential; or
• Equivalent education and/or experience (requires an equivalency petition).

Qualifications

• Experience incorporating elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion into all areas of responsibility.
• Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students, with an understanding of historical exclusion patterns in higher education.
• Willingness to examine and improve instructional, relational, and classroom practices to support racially minoritized students.
• Related work and professional experience.
• Experience working with students of diverse cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, as well as students with disabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to use computers and technologies for high-quality instruction and student support.
• Effective communication skills with students and staff.
• Experience with Springshare LibChat, LibAnswers, and LibGuides.
• Knowledge of the community college mission and goals.

Pay

Newly hired part-time faculty will be placed on step one (1) of the Part-Time Faculty Salary Schedule. Salary classification is based on education and experience as outlined in the Part-Time Faculty Salary Classifications.
