About the role
The Pima County Public Library is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and community-focused Librarian III to serve as the Branch Manager of the Flowing Wells Branch. This position offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated team, strengthen community connections, and help shape the future of library services in the Flowing Wells community.
Responsibilities
- Provides effective leadership and oversight of branch operations, including staff supervision and development, customer service, facilities coordination, collection management, and community programming.
- Fosters a positive and supportive workplace culture while ensuring that library services and resources effectively respond to the evolving needs of the community.
- Develops and implements innovative programs and services, strengthens relationships with community organizations and local partners, and promotes the library as a vital center for learning, connection, discovery, and lifelong enrichment.
- Collaborates with staff, library leadership, and community stakeholders to advance organizational goals and deliver high-quality library services.
Requirements
- Master's degree in library and information science (MLIS or MLS) from an accredited college or university AND five years of professional-level experience performing library work AND three years of general supervisory workplace experience.
- One year of experience with Pima County Public Library as a Librarian II or other similar classifications approved by department head at time of recruitment.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in library and information science (MLIS) from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited institution.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Minimum three (3) years experience coaching and mentoring staff, interns, or volunteers.
- Minimum two (2) years experience handling facility and property maintenance issues.
- Minimum three (3) years technology experience (email, eBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, personal electronic devices such as tablets, cell phones, e-readers, library website, Google forms or docs).
- Minimum three (3) years experience leading and managing teams.
- Minimum two (2) years experience working with community partners.
- Minimum two (2) years project management experience.
- Experience using an integrated library system (ILS), such as Sierra, Polaris, SirsiDynix, Millenium, Alma, Symphony, Horizon, Carl, and/or Apollo.
- Minimum two (2) years experience collaborating with direct reports, peers, and supervisors both in the library and in other departments.
