Librarian (Hourly)

About the role

Provides ACC Campus Library Services reference services to ACC students, faculty and staff, including in person, phone, email and library chat, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference services to students, faculty, and staff in person, by phone, email, and library chat.
• Collaborate with other ACC Library Services and campus library faculty and staff, maintaining records and statistical data.
• Perform collection maintenance, subject bibliography, information literacy support, web or wiki page maintenance, special projects, and reports as assigned.
• Participate in critical record‑keeping practices using reference desk software to gather student learning outcome data.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Preferred Experience

• Experience providing reference services to community college, university, or high‑school students.

Required Education

Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA‑accredited institution.

Licenses / Certifications

Reliable transportation may be required for working at multiple campus locations; employees moving among campuses may be reimbursed for travel.

Physical Requirements

• Work is routinely performed in a library environment.
• Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
• Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds.

• Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

Pay

$28.70 per hour.

Schedule

Up to 19 hours per week.

Employment Requirements

Austin Community College employees are required to maintain a domicile in the State of Texas while working for the college and throughout the duration of employment.
