Level 11 Client
About the Role
Global Good, a collaboration between the Gates Foundation and the innovation lab of Intellectual Ventures, focuses on addressing gaps in the refrigerated vaccine supply chain ("cold chain") in regions with unreliable or minimal power infrastructure. This role contributed to developing a centralized data solution for cold chain equipment and creating visualization tools to reduce waste and costs, including the mobile app Varo.
Responsibilities and Achievements
- Developed a Data Interchange platform to segment and route relevant data to appropriate stakeholders, enabling real-time insights into cold chain performance and significantly reducing vaccine spoilage and improving cost efficiency.
- Designed and deployed Varo, a mobile app that retrieves and visualizes 30-day temperature data from “Fridge-Tag” monitoring devices, ensuring compliance with vaccine storage requirements.
- Delivered data analytics tools that provided governments with unprecedented visibility into vaccine distribution, enabling better oversight and decision-making.
- Demonstrated adaptability and scalability by pivoting to address new challenges as the program evolved, delivering tailored solutions at each stage of the project.
Impact
The solution empowered Global Good to surface critical data previously unavailable, improving vaccine storage and distribution systems worldwide. The collaborative and flexible approach ensured the successful deployment of innovative technologies that addressed real-world challenges in the cold chain, enhancing vaccine safety and availability while demonstrating how technology can drive impactful global health solutions.
