Two (2) Law Enforcement Training Instructor III positions available in the Training Operations Division – Field Training Branch – Field Section, located in Independence, KY.
About the role
The Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) seeks experienced instructors to deliver law enforcement training within the Field Training Branch.
Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, and instruct field-training curriculum for law enforcement recruits and in-service officers.
- Evaluate trainee performance and provide detailed feedback.
- Maintain training records and ensure compliance with state standards.
- Collaborate with branch leadership to update and improve training programs.
- Travel as needed to deliver training at satellite locations.
Requirements
- Minimum five years of full-time, sworn law enforcement experience in Kentucky.
- Completion of the Kentucky Law Enforcement Basic Training Academy or equivalent.
- Certification as a Field Training Officer (FTO) or equivalent program.
- Valid Kentucky driver’s license.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in criminal justice, education, or related field (preferred).
- Prior instructional experience in a law enforcement or military training environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning management systems.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
