Two (2) Law Enforcement Training Instructor III positions available in the Training Operations Division – Field Training Branch – Field Section, located in Independence, KY.

About the role

The Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) seeks experienced instructors to deliver law enforcement training within the Field Training Branch.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and instruct field-training curriculum for law enforcement recruits and in-service officers.
  • Evaluate trainee performance and provide detailed feedback.
  • Maintain training records and ensure compliance with state standards.
  • Collaborate with branch leadership to update and improve training programs.
  • Travel as needed to deliver training at satellite locations.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of full-time, sworn law enforcement experience in Kentucky.
  • Completion of the Kentucky Law Enforcement Basic Training Academy or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Field Training Officer (FTO) or equivalent program.
  • Valid Kentucky driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in criminal justice, education, or related field (preferred).
  • Prior instructional experience in a law enforcement or military training environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning management systems.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
