Responsibilities

  • Duties of these Leo Lecturer I positions are expected to include teaching, developing course materials, evaluating and grading students, and holding regularly scheduled office hours.

Requirements

  • A PhD in a social science discipline with a demonstrated focus on communication.
  • Excellence in teaching and instruction will be the principal criteria used to select the successful candidate.

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications: A PhD in a social science discipline with a demonstrated focus on communication.
  • Desired Qualifications: Prior teaching or discussion-leading experience, strong academic background in communication or media studies, outstanding organizational and communication skills.

Course Description

  • COURSE TITLE(S): COMM 101- The Media, Past, and Present & COMM 306.002- Survey of Media Topics in the Humanities
  • COURSE OBJECTIVES: Serve as GSI .5 for COMM 101 and .35 for COMM 306 for the Fall 2026 semester in lieu of a non-LSA graduate student instructor (GSI).

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
