About the Role
We are seeking a Software Test Analyst/QA Analyst with 2–5 years of hands-on QA/testing experience in banking or financial services. The position is a multiyear contract focused on functional and regression testing of new and existing applications, including legacy and vendor systems, to ensure they meet business requirements, integrate properly with other systems, and are ready for production.
Responsibilities
- Perform complete regression tests of new and existing systems (legacy and vendor) when new or modified functions are introduced.
- Conduct functional tests to ensure software works properly, interfaces correctly with other systems, and generates appropriate reports.
- Create and edit test cases in accordance with system requirements.
- Determine function problems by reviewing testing actions, results, and system outputs (e.g., reports and transaction documentation).
- Create, modify, and/or locate the data and conditions needed to execute test cases.
- Identify and analyze business and system requirements (e.g., needs, objectives, functions, features, input, and output).
- Document problems, possible causes, and potential solutions.
- Work directly with stakeholders to understand project concepts, objectives, and approaches.
- Collaborate with programmers and analysts to assist in problem resolution.
- Perform partial or complete tests to re-verify all modifications received.
- Identify discrepancies and errors and inform Software Testing Analysts and programmers.
- Certify that testing is complete and ready for production implementation.
- Develop and document procedures and training manuals for subsystem changes or enhancements.
- Maintain a complete testing log, including time spent, problems encountered, and testing time lost due to incomplete documentation or tool deficiencies.
- Review user documentation for accuracy prior to dissemination and identify discrepancies/errors.
- Address user inquiries and complaints regarding existing automated systems, coordinating efforts to resolve issues.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of professional, hands-on QA/testing experience in banking or financial services.
- Demonstrated experience in functional and regression testing, test case creation, defect management, and requirements analysis.
- Proficiency with tools such as JIRA, HP ALM, and UFT.
- Experience with test automation and SQL/database validation (highly preferred).
- Strong understanding of operational and regulatory risks and controls in the financial industry.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Planning, organizational, and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of project lifecycles and management methodologies.
- Database, presentation, word processing, and spreadsheet software skills.
Qualifications
- Experience in testing systems across various platforms.
- Knowledge of current technologies like HPE Unified Functional Testing software and HP ALM.
- Experience with automated systems analysis, development, and testing procedures.
- Ability to produce desired results and achieve objectives.
- Understanding of, and ability to apply, industry best practices.
- Desired: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Desired: Experience in automation testing.
