About the Role

The Department of History, Geography and Legal Studies in the College of Social Sciences, Math and Education at The University of Tampa is seeking part-time instructors to teach undergraduate courses in Legal Studies. The Legal Studies program is a vibrant and growing program offering a minor in Law, Justice, and Advocacy, with over 200 undergraduates enrolled as minors and many non-minor students attending its classes. Instructors will work with students interested in law school as well as those exploring the legal field academically.

Responsibilities

  • Create a syllabus and other course-related materials.
  • Teach in-person course(s) according to departmental guidelines.
  • Provide time outside of class to meet with students.
  • Complete course grading and submit final grades in the online system.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) (required).
  • Teaching experience, especially college-level (preferred).

The department is especially interested in candidates who can teach courses during normal working hours (9 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday). If applicable, please note this in your cover letter.

Additional Information

Applications for part-time positions are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed by the department when openings become available. Teaching assignments are term-by-term and may include fall, spring, and summer semesters.
