Responsibilities
- Complete assignments including drafting, revisions, and finalization of correspondence, pleadings, court forms, memoranda, and redline comparisons
- Conflicts checks, opening new client matters, and obtaining conflicts waivers, if necessary
- Draft and serve discovery documents
- Aid attorneys with arranging and preparing for depositions
- Aid with trial preparation and trial support
- Manage calendar relevant dates
- Process vendor invoices, organize files, prepare expense reports, and manage attorney monthly billings
- Arrange for travel, meetings/depositions (in office or out of office); and remote court appearances
- State, civil, complex federal and appellate filings (manual and/or electronic, where applicable) and service of pleadings
- Maintain and organize physical and electronic attorney files in accordance with department policies, practices, and procedures
- Attend training sessions as required or requested by the Firm
- Production, including creation of flash drives and/or pdf of same for transmittal to client, along with hard copies
- Retrieve and assemble exhibits and hearing binders, as needed
- Provide peer support
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred
- 5-7 years of law firm experience at a litigation desk preferred
Qualifications
- Ability to work through complex document markups and instructions in a timely manner
- Ability to multi-task, manage and process workflow timely and accurately
- Extensive knowledge of Federal and State court electronic filing systems, PACER, ADR and JAMS mediation processes
- Knowledge of various court rules on the state and federal levels
- Effective communication skills with clients, attorneys, co-workers, and management
- Minimum typing speed of 70 wpm
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including, but not limited to Word, Excel, Adobe and Outlook
- Advanced proficiency in NetDocs or similar programs
- Familiarity with Aderant or other accounting software is a plus
- Proficiency in Forms Workflow or other Judicial Council programs to efficiently access necessary court forms
- Ability to work as a team player, proactive, flexible, organized, and able to work under pressure
