About the role

A Civil Litigation Legal Secretary supports attorneys and legal teams in managing the administrative and organizational aspects of civil litigation cases. This role supports up to two attorneys and is primarily remote, with occasional office visits for training and meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Correspondence and various legal documents and forms
  • Drafts documents and correspondence
  • Litigation: organizes and maintains files related to current cases and legal matters in a paper-lite environment, emphasizing electronic filing and e-filing with Courts, dockets, and calendars
  • Litigation: provides administrative support for depositions, medical examinations, court and arbitration hearings, and works with retained experts
  • Knowledge of Electronic Legal Management (e-Legal), e-Docs preferred
  • Familiarity with Team Connect preferred
  • Ability to manage in a strictly electronic environment
  • Strong Microsoft Office product skills, including Office 365, Teams, and OneDrive
  • Skilled in working with Adobe and manipulating PDF documents
  • Understanding of California Court venues and local rules a plus, knowledge of e-filing processes with various California courts

Requirements

  • Experience as a Legal Secretary: 0 - 2 years
  • Previous secretarial experience in law: 0 - 2 years
  • Bachelor's degree in related field: plus
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and document editing skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with strong attention to detail
  • Strong PC skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to handle and respond to sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to file using an alpha-numeric system
