Legal Procedures Clerk (Entry)
About the role
This position performs the more complex and responsible clerical assessment work requiring knowledge and application of assessment laws, regulations, and procedures within the Assessor/Recorder’s Office.
Responsibilities
- Assists taxpayers and representatives of various groups/companies regarding property valuation matters.
- Maintains a large amount of detailed, varied clerical records, reports and materials.
- Compiles and summarizes technical and statistical data, and processes assessment information.
- Reviews and verifies a variety of documents for completeness and compliance.
- Examines a variety of recorded or legal documents and determines if property is assessable.
- Researches secured and unsecured property tax rolls and other related records.
- Directs and coordinates the work of clerical support staff.
- Assists in preparing real and personal property escapes and roll corrections.
- Performs related duties as required.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: Two years (4,000 hours) of verifiable clerical experience in a property tax assessment office. Duties must have included providing assistance and information to the general public on the telephone or at a public counter.
