What You’ll Do
The Legal Practice Technology (“LPT”) Project Manager works closely with case teams and clients to:
- Identify eDiscovery-focused technical requirements and resources
- Aid in managing and selecting service providers
- Define and execute associated support tasks
- Provide project management for technical workstreams
- Offer eDiscovery and analytics consulting services when requested
Essential Functions
As requested by case teams and clients, the Project Manager performs the following functions:
- Hands-on support in Relativity, Brainspace, and other litigation technology tools
- Advise on and coordinate development of key specifications
- Assess and address issues in reporting related to data processing and exception handling
- Coordinate in-house data management activities such as data processing, loading into database applications, imaging, and building production subsets
- Support the execution of special projects
- Apply firm standards in both technology and practices as identified by Firm leadership and guided by an Associate Director
Technical Responsibilities
- Provide support in Relativity, Brainspace, and other litigation technology toolsets
- Manage and select service providers
- Define and execute support tasks
- Manage external service providers and troubleshoot escalated issues
- Consult with case team members on the use of customized litigation support apps and tools
- Assist with analyzing and implementing new software versions
- Support the execution of special projects
Project Management & Consulting Responsibilities
- Assist with the management of external service providers and problem-solving
- Help identify opportunities for improving efficiency and meeting best practices
- Coordinate communications and document decisions related to technical work-streams
- Coordinate and quality check work requests between case teams and Operations teams
- Implement process, reporting, and documentation enhancements
- Consult on and document data identification, preservation, and collection procedures
- Consult on and implement the use of TAR, advanced analytics, and review/quality control workflow design
- Contribute to departmental publications, presentations, and documentation creation
- Deliver training to case teams and department as required
- Provide briefings to the Associate Director and Director of Litigation & Practice Technology as requested
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in legal technology support at an AMLAW 100 law firm or service provider
- Strong combination of technical, project management, and consulting experience, capabilities, and knowledge
- Experience with leading eDiscovery review platforms (Relativity, DISCO, Recommind)
- Experience with TAR and other analytics (BrainSpace, NexLP)
- Thorough knowledge of the litigation lifecycle and eDiscovery processes
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities in a timely fashion
- Ability to express thoughts, ideas, and information clearly and effectively
- Ability to identify problems, research, analyze, determine alternative solutions, and create action steps
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-office team, building relationships, delegating working, and escalating risk appropriately
- ‘Can Do’ attitude, willingness and ability to identify gaps, propose solutions, and take ownership of projects
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, though a combination of associate’s degree and commensurate experience will be considered
- Flexibility to accommodate overtime is required at times
Compensation
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in each of the below locations. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations.
- Chicago: $133,000 - $166,000
- Washington D.C.: $133,000 - $183,000
- Bay Area: $133,000 - $191,000
- Los Angeles: $133,000 - $183,000
- Boston: $133,000 - $183,000
- New York City: $133,000 - $183,000
