Legal Counsel (US eCommerce)-Remote

Full-time, 100% remote role (US preferred)

KNN Digital Media is a global eCommerce company founded by former Google executives. We use performance marketing, media, and machine learning to drive measurable growth across a portfolio of in-house and affiliate brands, including our flagship brand in the health and wellness space, Vital Nutritive. As we continue to scale our presence across the United States, we are looking for a Legal Counsel with expertise in health and wellness products, eCommerce, consumer protection, advertising law, and regulatory compliance to help protect and support the growth of our business.

This role will serve as the primary legal advisor for the company, partnering with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance across marketing, advertising, eCommerce operations, product claims, contracts, privacy, and regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in minimizing legal risk, preventing potential disputes, and helping establish scalable legal processes as the company continues to grow.

Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

• Monitor and advise on federal and state regulations affecting regulated consumer products, health supplements, eCommerce businesses, and direct-to-consumer brands
• Ensure compliance with FDA, FTC, consumer protection, advertising, privacy, and eCommerce regulations
• Stay informed of regulatory changes across the U.S. and proactively recommend actions to mitigate risk
• Conduct legal risk assessments and provide practical business-oriented guidance
• Develop and maintain internal compliance policies and legal best practices
• Identify legal and regulatory risks across the business and recommend mitigation strategies

Website & eCommerce Compliance

• Review and maintain website legal documentation, including Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policies, Disclaimer pages, Subscription Terms, Refund Policies, and related disclosures
• Ensure compliance with recurring billing, subscription, and auto-renewal requirements across all states where we operate
• Advise on state-specific consumer protection laws and eCommerce requirements
• Review checkout flows, customer communications, customer journeys, and website disclosures to ensure legal compliance
• Advise on privacy and data protection matters affecting customer acquisition and retention activities

Marketing & Advertising Legal Review

• Review marketing claims, landing pages, advertorials, email campaigns, promotional materials, affiliate content, influencer partnerships, and customer-facing communications
• Ensure compliance with FTC advertising guidelines and substantiation requirements
• Assess health supplement, wellness, and product-related claims to minimize regulatory and litigation risk
• Partner with Marketing and Creative teams to provide practical legal guidance throughout campaign development
• Support the development of compliant acquisition and retention strategies

Product & Ingredient Compliance

• Review product formulations, ingredients, labels, packaging, and product claims to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, with a particular focus on health supplements and wellness products
• Advise on ingredient-related risks and regulatory requirements
• Support product launches by conducting legal and compliance reviews
• Coordinate with external regulatory consultants when required
• Monitor regulatory developments affecting health supplements, consumer products, health and wellness products, and related industries

Contract Management & Cross-Functional Legal Support

• Draft, review, and negotiate contractor agreements, service agreements, agency agreements, affiliate agreements, influencer agreements, NDAs, and other commercial contracts
• Provide day-to-day legal support across the organization on operational, commercial, and compliance matters
• Advise internal stakeholders on legal implications of new initiatives, partnerships, promotions, and business opportunities
• Support the development of internal policies and procedures that promote compliance and operational consistency
• Coordinate with external legal counsel when specialized legal support is required
• Assist in responding to regulatory inquiries, consumer complaints, demand letters, and potential legal disputes

Training & Compliance Awareness

• Deliver legal and compliance training to internal teams on advertising, consumer protection, privacy, and regulatory requirements
• Promote awareness of legal best practices across the organization
• Help foster a proactive culture of compliance and risk management

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law in the United States
• 3+ years of experience advising health supplement, wellness, consumer products, eCommerce, or direct-to-consumer businesses
• Strong knowledge of FDA and FTC regulations affecting health supplements, consumer products, and direct-to-consumer brands
• Experience reviewing marketing materials, advertising claims, and customer-facing communications
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements
• Strong understanding of consumer protection, privacy, and eCommerce regulations
• Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice and balance risk management with commercial objectives
• Strong legal drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
• Experience supporting health supplement, nutrition, wellness, personal care, healthcare, consumer products, or direct-to-consumer businesses is strongly preferred
