About the role
Schneider Electric is seeking a Legal Counsel to support procurement and purchasing activities within the organization. The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of experience in commercial contracting, particularly in purchasing agreements.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, advise on, and negotiate supply, service, and purchasing agreements in alignment with Schneider Electric's contracting rules and policies
- Partner closely with Purchasing and internal stakeholders to support supplier negotiations and contracting decisions
- Identify and assess legal risks, advising on mitigation strategies and appropriate escalation
- Stay current on laws and regulations relevant to procurement, supply chain, and technology contracting
- Provide preliminary guidance on supplier disputes or claims, escalating higher-risk matters as needed
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of standard templates, clause libraries, and contracting best practices
- Support internal training initiatives related to purchasing contracts, compliance, and contracting processes
- Aid with other commercial transactions as needed, including customer and distributor agreements across Schneider Electric's energy management and industrial automation businesses
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school
- Active Bar admission in at least one U.S. state
- 2–5 years of experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, ideally in a global organization and procurement contracting experience
- Prior in-house experience is preferred; law firm experience welcome
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills
- Solid business acumen with the ability to translate legal advice into practical guidance
- Collaborative mindset, sound judgment, and comfort operating in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
