Legal Counsel
Responsibilities
Mayo Clinic is seeking an experienced attorney to join our legal team to provide expert advice and counsel to human resources, management, and physician leaders regarding employment matters, including immigration-related issues. Resumes must be submitted online with a cover letter.
Core Job Responsibilities
Leading and working collaboratively within cross-functional teams by advising on immigration and employment law issues, which may include the following practice areas:
- Recruitment and hiring;
- I-9 and E-Verify compliance;
- Personnel performance management, discipline, and separation issues;
- Wage and hour;
- Nondiscrimination;
- Disability and leave issues;
- Employee privacy;
- Labor relations;
- Credentialing, peer review, and medical staff bylaws;
- Government contracting.
Providing legal and strategic guidance to clients, including organizational leadership, on risk assessment and mitigation in support of Mayo Clinic's strategic initiatives;
Management of outside counsel.
Qualifications
Requires completion of law school and five or more years of employment law experience, including advising on employment matters, management of immigration-related matters, complex investigations, and litigation.
A strong academic background and excellent communication and writing skills are required.
Candidates must have the ability to manage multiple client relationships and understand and help meet their clients' needs and business goals.
Candidates should have sound legal project management skills, the ability to effectively lead teams, service as a positive change agent, and delegate work in a fast-paced, team-based environment within a dynamic organization.
This position requires a license to practice law in Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, or Wisconsin.
Pay and Benefits
Pay is commensurate with experience. The range for this position is $200,750 to $313,000.
