Legal Counsel

Job Summary

The At Home Legal Department is seeking a motivated Legal Counsel to support the company's growth and operations. This role involves advising senior leaders on labor and employment issues, managing litigation and claims, and providing practical guidance on commercial contracts and compliance.

Essential Functions

• Advising senior and executive leaders on labor and employment issues.
• Managing commercial and employment litigation and providing oversight to claims and charges, including EEOC claims.
• Managing the enterprise-wide commercial contracting process, including negotiating, drafting, reviewing, interpreting, and supporting contracts for all functional areas.
• Acting as a legal advisor to internal clients across various departments such as finance, HR, merchandising, marketing, ecommerce, real estate, safety and risk, and IT.
• Taking ownership of discrete legal initiatives based on changing business priorities.
• Developing and maintaining internal guidelines, toolkits, policies, template forms, and training materials for various legal and business issues.
• Engaging and managing outside counsel and other third parties as needed.
• Maintaining the company’s corporate compliance and ethics program; providing legal oversight to product compliance and sourcing teams regarding regulatory compliance.

• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage competing deadlines.
• Experience with employment law, litigation, and contract negotiation.
• Ability to analyze complex issues, assess risk, and provide business-focused solutions.
• Confidence and professionalism in handling crises and challenges.

Qualifications

• JD (Juris Doctor or Doctor of Jurisprudence) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction (Texas preferred).
• One to five years of legal experience, including experience with employment law, litigation, and/or complex commercial contracts.
