Legal Clerk
Job Location
The position will be located at the United States Post Office Building, 131 W. High Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
About the Role
The Administrative Hearing Commission decides cases between private individuals or entities and State agencies. Operations are similar to a circuit court, and this position is similar to a deputy circuit-court clerk. In this role, you would work closely with other support staff to keep cases moving efficiently and effectively. The office is located in the historic U.S. Post Office Building near the Capitol Complex in Jefferson City.
Responsibilities
- Process filings for cases received by e-filing, mail, and fax, and direct filings to the appropriate team members
- Open cases, file documents, and schedule hearings in the electronic case-management system
- Answer main telephone line and direct calls
- Draft notices of hearing
- Send and receive emails on behalf of the Commission
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Collaborative nature – works well with others, communicates and coordinates effectively
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Sound judgment and discretion, especially in protecting confidential information maintained by the Commission
- Ability to work independently and prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications and ability to learn additional software
- High rate of accuracy in completing tasks
- General knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications include a collaborative nature, excellent written and oral communication skills, sound judgment and discretion, ability to work independently and prioritize work, comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications, high rate of accuracy in completing tasks, general knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment, and a high school diploma or equivalent.
