About the role

Bricker Graydon Wyatt is seeking a Legal Assistant to support our team in various practice areas, including Employee Benefits and Litigation. The role is available in Cincinnati, OH, Cleveland, OH, and Columbus, OH.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and edit legal documents, correspondence, reports, and internal forms accurately and efficiently
  • Review documents and forms to ensure accuracy and completeness, including verification of client and plan information, dates, addresses, identification numbers, and other critical details
  • Coordinate the preparation, organization, maintenance, and updating of employee benefit plan documents and related electronic records
  • Maintain plan books, client files, and electronic document management systems in accordance with firm procedures
  • Draft engagement letters, set up new client matters, and assist with client onboarding activities
  • Schedule meetings, prepare agendas and supporting materials, and coordinate meeting logistics for attorneys and clients
  • Maintain calendars, schedule appointments, and monitor deadlines for assigned attorneys
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, handling phone calls and correspondence professionally and efficiently
  • Aid in document organization, including preparation of tables of contents and other supporting materials as needed
  • Proactively review and release attorney time entries and assist with billing and pre-bill review processes to meet monthly deadlines
  • Cook up travel arrangements and submit expense reports for assigned attorneys and team members
  • Perform or oversee administrative tasks such as scanning, copying, filing, mail distribution, document management, and file maintenance
  • Support other attorneys and legal assistants during high-volume periods or team member absences

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, Executive Assistant, or in a comparable professional support role
  • Prior law firm or professional services experience
  • Employee benefits experience preferred

Qualifications

  • Strong typing, formatting, and proofreading skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Knowledge of litigation processes, including pleadings, discovery, trial preparation, and court procedures
  • Familiarity with regulatory filings and agency procedures (such as Public Utilities Commission, FERC, or state energy boards)
  • Exceptional organization, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage calendars, deadlines, and multiple priorities effectively
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating as part of a team
  • Flexible and responsive to time-sensitive demands; willingness to work beyond regular business hours when necessary
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with tools such as iManage, Aderant, Interaction, and PreBill Manager is a plus
  • Skilled in legal document preparation, transcription, and editing

Skills

Pay

Pay Range: $60,000–$75,000/yr. (Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, education, and internal equity.)
