Commercial Litigation Attorney - 5+ Years Experience Established and respected DuPage County law firm seeks an experienced commercial litigator with 5+ years of experience to join our growing practice. We are a five-attorney firm with thriving commercial transactional, estate planning/business succession, and litigation practices. Our litigation work has grown to the point that we regularly turn away good matters because we simply cannot absorb the additional work. We are looking for an experienced litigator who can step in, take meaningful responsibility for cases, and help us continue to grow the practice. The successful candidate will work closely with two partners with substantial litigation experience-one with more than 25 years of experience and another with more than 11 years-while having the opportunity to manage complex matters from inception through trial. For the right attorney, there is a genuine path to partnership within the next few years and an opportunity to play a significant role in building and managing the firm's litigation practice. Portable business is not required. We are a close-knit group of attorneys who genuinely like and support one another. Our office and personalities are casual and low-ego, but we are Type A about our work product, preparation, responsiveness, and client service. We work hard, collaborate constantly, and take pride in producing excellent work without unnecessary law-firm formality or politics. Responsibilities Manage commercial and complex civil litigation matters from inception through resolution Develop case strategy and communicate directly with clients Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs, and written discovery Take and defend fact and expert depositions, including evidence depositions for trial Argue contested motions, TROs, and other court proceedings Prepare for and conduct evidentiary hearings, arbitrations, and trials Negotiate settlements and participate in mediations Work collaboratively with other attorneys on complex matters Qualifications Juris Doctor degree and Illinois law license 5+ years of commercial or complex civil litigation experience Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills Significant deposition and courtroom experience Trial Or Trial Preparation Experience Strongly Preferred Ability to independently manage cases, deadlines, and client relationships Organized, detail-oriented, responsive, and committed to excellent work product Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Westlaw This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced litigator who wants sophisticated work and significant responsibility without getting lost in a large firm.
