About the role

A well-established law firm is seeking a Legal Assistant to support a busy Employment Law practice. This role will provide administrative and legal support to attorneys handling a variety of employment-related matters, requiring exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and legal support to attorneys within a busy Employment Law practice.
  • Prepare, revise, proofread, and format legal correspondence, pleadings, agreements, memoranda, and other legal documents.
  • Manage attorney calendars, coordinate meetings, depositions, hearings, travel, and other scheduling needs.
  • Prepare, organize, and electronically file documents with state and federal courts and other applicable agencies.
  • Maintain case files and document management systems, including opening new matters, organizing records, and managing file retention.
  • Cook up document production, copying, scanning, mailing, and electronic distribution of legal materials.
  • Aid in monthly billing activities, including time entry, transmittal letters, expense reports, and other administrative support.
  • Maintain accurate client and matter information within firm databases and case management systems.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other external contacts.
  • Support attorneys in preparing for meetings, hearings, depositions, and other case-related activities.
  • Assist with firm events, special projects, and other administrative initiatives as needed.
  • Collaborate with other legal support professionals to ensure efficient workflow and exceptional client service.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably supporting an employment law, labor and employment, or litigation practice.
  • Experience preparing legal documents, managing case files, and coordinating court filings.
  • Familiarity with state and federal court procedures and filing requirements preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
