Legal Assistant
Duties & Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain case files and other filings for a litigation team
- Congduct state filing online and federal filing using ECF/PACER
- Use CompuLaw docketing system to maintain and monitor deadlines
- Maintain electronic calendars for assigned attorneys
- Submit expense reimbursements on behalf of attorneys
- Coooperate with accounting department on billing and related administrative matters
- Review and follow-up on client deadlines and calendar appointments
- Prepare and update case status reports for clients and attorneys
- Miscellaneous clerical tasks, such as scanning, photocopying, and preparing folders and files for attorneys and paralegals
- Manage the conflict check and client intake process for new matters
- Professionally communicate with clients, opposing counsel, vendors, and firm personnel
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail and packages
Requirements
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a civil litigation law firm; labor & employment litigation defense experience a plus
- Proficiency with state filing in Virginia; Proficiency with federal filing with ECF/PACER is required
- Prior experience with CompuLaw docketing software is preferred
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Products like Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
