We are looking for a detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join a litigation team in Santa Ana, California. This is a long-term contract position.
About the role
Contribute to active litigation matters by supporting attorneys with case coordination, document preparation, and day-to-day litigation activities. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, communicates effectively, and is comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven legal setting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize discovery materials, including drafting requests and assisting with responses for ongoing litigation matters.
- Create, revise, and assemble Judicial Council forms and other legal documents for attorney review and filing.
- Oversee case calendars by tracking hearings, filing dates, and other critical litigation deadlines.
- Submit court documents through appropriate filing systems for matters in California state courts, including Los Angeles, Orange County, and Riverside County.
- Attend meetings and client discussions to capture thorough notes and develop clear summaries for follow-up.
- Provide administrative and case support related to insurance claims and associated legal documentation.
- Review real estate records and assist with property-related research connected to active cases.
- Maintain accurate case files, update matter information, and support attorneys throughout each stage of litigation.
Requirements
- Prior experience supporting civil litigation matters in a Legal Assistant or Paralegal capacity.
- Working knowledge of discovery practice, court procedures, and litigation case flow.
- Proven ability to manage calendaring responsibilities and monitor court-driven deadlines.
- Experience preparing legal forms, pleadings, and related case documents with accuracy.
- Hands-on background with court filings and electronic filing systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a detail-oriented approach to client and team interactions.
- High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and legal case management platforms.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
