About the role
The Delaware Department of Justice seeks Legal Administrative Specialists to support the Criminal Division in Sussex County. The Criminal Division prosecutes criminal offenses statewide and includes units like the Misdemeanor Trial Unit, Felony Screening Unit, Felony Trial Unit, and Special Victims Unit.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain legal case files and documentation
- Conduct criminal record checks
- Request police and investigative reports
- Type and proofread legal correspondence and documents
- Aid in discovery preparation
- Schedule and maintain calendars
- Prepare subpoena lists
- Filing documents
- Ensure accurate and organized case records
Requirements
- Associate’s degree or higher
- One year of experience in coordinating office activities
- One year of experience in document processing
- One year of experience in using standard computer software programs
- One year of experience in using an automated information system
- Knowledge of legal terminology
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Three years of experience in coordinating office activities
- Three years of experience in document processing
- Three years of experience in using standard computer software programs
- Three years of experience in using an automated information system
- Experience preparing legal documents
- Experience interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures
Skills
Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
