About the role
The United States Attorney's Office for South Carolina's mission is to investigate, prosecute and deter violations of federal statutes, enforce and represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, uphold civil, constitutional and victims' rights, and foster partnerships with other federal, state and local government agencies and community groups.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance to litigation teams on legal automation requirements, litigation support systems, and technology solutions to enhance trial preparation and courtroom presentations.
- Analyze litigation support needs and develop strategies to manage complex case materials and meet case objectives.
- Aid attorneys in organizing, scanning, indexing, coding, and managing large volumes of documents in litigation databases for efficient retrieval.
- Create computerized trial presentation programs and produce demonstrative exhibits using tools like Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Trial Director, Eclipse, and Everlaw.
- Create and maintain trial-related documents, including witness lists, exhibit lists, jury instructions, and subpoenas, ensuring compliance with the Federal Rules of Evidence and Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure.
Requirements
- Must be a United States Citizen or National.
- Must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- Must pass a background investigation.
- Must meet initial appointment and continued employment conditions.
- Must complete an Optional Form 306, Declaration for Federal Employment, and sign and certify the accuracy of all information in your application.
- Must provide resume and supporting documents.
- Must meet time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level.
- Must demonstrate specialized experience or combination of education and experience as described in the qualifications section.
Qualifications
- To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must demonstrate specialized experience equivalent to at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level performing the duties listed above.
- To qualify at the GS-11 level, you must demonstrate specialized experience equivalent to at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level performing the duties listed above, plus one year of progressively higher-level graduate education.
- To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must demonstrate specialized experience equivalent to at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level performing the duties listed above, plus two years of progressively higher-level graduate education.
