Lecturer-Teacher, Education and Learning Sciences
About the role
The Lecturer supports the TELS program by delivering high-quality, instruction-focused teaching that prepares future educators for success in K–12 settings. This role emphasizes effective pedagogy, integration of instructional technologies, and application of research-based practices.
Responsibilities
- Instruction & Teaching:
- Teach 1–3 courses per semester in areas such as elementary education, middle grades education, subject-matter methods (e.g., math, science, literacy), or learning sciences
- Design and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction
- Apply research-based teaching strategies and best practices
- Integrate digital tools and instructional technologies to enhance learning
- Facilitate active learning through discussion, collaboration, and applied activities
- Course Design & Curriculum Alignment:
- Develop and update course materials, assignments, and syllabi
- Ensure alignment with program goals and relevant standards (e.g., NC Standard Course of Study)
- Collaborate with faculty and program coordinators to maintain consistency across courses
Requirements
Minimum Education And Experience Requires master’s degree, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience teaching in K–12 settings aligned with TELS program areas, such as:
- Elementary education (STEM focus)
- Secondary English Language Arts or Social Studies
- Special Education or Multilingual Education (ESL)
- Experience working in or supporting teacher preparation programs, including preservice teacher development
- Demonstrated use of research-based instructional practices, including differentiation, culturally responsive teaching, and inclusive pedagogy
- Experience integrating digital tools, learning technologies, or instructional design principles into teaching
- Experience designing and implementing project-based, experiential, or hands-on learning
- Familiarity with clinical practice models, including supervision or support of field placements or student teaching
- Knowledge of or experience aligning instruction with: NC Standard Course of Study, Common Core, NGSS, or other relevant standards
- Experience collaborating with schools, districts, or educational partners

Pay
Anticipated Hiring Range $5,000 per 3 credit hour class (10,000 annualized)
