Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Security Studies

About the role

The School of Humanities and Social Science, UNSW Canberra, seeks a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Security Studies for an ongoing position.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate research depth and educational breadth covering both conventional and non-traditional security issues.
• Display scholarly engagement in the disruptive effects of technological change, wider issues in International Relations, and interest in Australian foreign/defence policy.
• Design and deliver high-quality teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, including curriculum development across a range of contexts.
• Use educational technologies and innovative approaches to online and blended learning delivery.
• Contribute to inclusive teaching practices and support equity, diversity, and student success initiatives.
• Show a strong research track record with evidence of high-quality outputs, impact, and ongoing contribution to research excellence, with emerging or established research leadership.
• Show strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines, build professional relationships, and engage with industry or external stakeholders.

Requirements

• A PhD in Security Studies or a closely related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining currency in disciplinary knowledge, scholarship, and professional practice.
• Proven experience in designing and delivering high-quality teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, including curriculum development across a range of contexts.
• Experience in the effective use of educational technologies and innovative approaches to online and blended learning delivery.
• Demonstrated capacity to contribute to inclusive teaching practices and support equity, diversity, and student success initiatives.
• Strong research track record with evidence of high-quality outputs, impact, and ongoing contribution to research excellence, with emerging or established research leadership.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines, build professional relationships, and engage with industry or external stakeholders.

Pay

Level B/C, level B from $133,065, level C from $161,619 plus leave loading and 17% super

Schedule

Full-time, 35 hours per week
