About the role

The School of Computer Science and Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW seeks a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in a Teaching and Research role focused on cybersecurity and AI security.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the advancement of research and education in cybersecurity and AI security.
  • Conduct research in areas such as security and privacy of AI systems, adversarial machine learning, model and data privacy, secure AI deployment, LLM and agent security, and AI safety.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
  • Collaborate with industry partners and contribute to collaborative research initiatives, including competitive grant applications and scholarly publications.

Requirements

  • PhD in a related discipline, or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to staying updated with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
  • Industry or work-integrated learning experience (desirable).
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in a related discipline, or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to staying updated with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development, and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Experience of implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
  • Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
  • Success in securing competitive funding, supervising HDR students, and making significant independent contributions to your field.
  • Track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact.
  • Ability to recruit and supervise high-calibre students.
  • Teamwork, collaboration across disciplines, and building effective relationships.
  • Interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact with the profession and industry and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives.

Pay

  • Lecturer (Level B): AUD $127,947 to $150,830 per annum + 17% superannuation
  • Senior Lecturer (Level C): AUD $155,403 to $178,290 per annum + 17% superannuation

Schedule

  • Full-time
  • 2-Year Convertible Tenure Track or continuing appointment
