Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity
About the role
The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity role is based in Sydney, NSW, Australia. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary range depending on experience, with a generous superannuation contribution.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the advancement of research and education in cybersecurity and AI security.
- Conduct research in areas such as security and privacy of AI systems, adversarial machine learning, model and data privacy, secure AI deployment, LLM and agent security, and AI safety.
- Develop secure, trustworthy, and privacy-preserving intelligent systems.
Requirements
- A PhD in a related discipline, or relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to staying updated with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
- Experience in industry or work-integrated learning (optional).
- Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
Qualifications
- A PhD in a related discipline, or relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to staying updated with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development, and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Experience in implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
- Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
- Experience in industry or work-integrated learning.
- Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
- Track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact, with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
- Experience in recruiting and supervising high-calibre students.
- Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships.
- Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives, and values.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
Skills
- Expertise in areas such as adversarial machine learning, AI system security and privacy, LLM and agent security, and privacy-enhancing technologies.
- Collaborative and adaptable approach.
- Engaging educator with experience in delivering high-quality teaching and contributing to curriculum development.
Benefits

Pay
Lecturer (Level B): AUD $127,947 to $150,830 per annum + 17% superannuation
Senior Lecturer (Level C): AUD $155,403 to $178,290 per annum + 17% superannuation
