Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Education Focussed) in Cybersecurity

About the role

The successful candidate will contribute to excellence in teaching and learning within cybersecurity, while helping to shape the next generation of cybersecurity professionals and computing graduates. They will teach across areas such as penetration testing, reverse engineering, wargaming, offensive and defensive security, and related cybersecurity disciplines at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to teaching, curriculum development, and student support across undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
• Deliver engaging learning experiences, develop innovative curriculum and teaching approaches, and enhance student learning outcomes.
• Collaborate with industry partners to integrate real-world scenarios into the curriculum.
• Lead teaching initiatives and contribute to the advancement of teaching excellence across the School and broader UNSW Education Focused community.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a PhD in a related discipline, or equivalent, and have relevant work experience. They should have demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels. Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence is essential.

• Relevant work experience in cybersecurity.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches.
• Experience in implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
• Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.

• Knowledge of industry or experience in work-integrated learning.
• Professional development of teaching practice in self and others.

Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary range of AUD $127,947 to $150,830 per annum for a Lecturer and AUD $155,403 to $178,290 per annum for a Senior Lecturer, plus 17% superannuation. The position is full-time and offers a 2-year convertible tenure track or continuing appointment.
