Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Education Focussed) in Cybersecurity
About the role
The successful candidate will contribute to excellence in teaching and learning within cybersecurity, while helping to shape the next generation of cybersecurity professionals and computing graduates. They will teach across areas such as penetration testing, reverse engineering, wargaming, offensive and defensive security, and related cybersecurity disciplines at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to teaching, curriculum development, and student support across undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
- Deliver engaging learning experiences, develop innovative curriculum and teaching approaches, and enhance student learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with industry partners to integrate real-world scenarios into the curriculum.
- Lead teaching initiatives and contribute to the advancement of teaching excellence within the School and broader UNSW Education Focused community.
Requirements
Applicants must hold a PhD in a related discipline, or equivalent, and/or relevant work experience. They should actively stay up to date with discipline knowledge and professional development, and demonstrate experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at various levels and scales.
Qualifications
- A PhD in a related discipline, or equivalent.
- Relevant work experience in cybersecurity.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
- Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
- Experience in industry or work-integrated learning.
- Demonstrated ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.
Skills
- Knowledge of industry or experience in work-integrated learning.
- Ability to initiate curriculum development and improvement.
- Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives, and values.

Pay
- Lecturer (Level B): AUD $127,947 to $150,830 per annum + 17% superannuation
- Senior Lecturer (Level C): AUD $155,403 to $178,290 per annum + 17% superannuation
Schedule
This is a full-time position with a two-year convertible tenure track or continuing appointment.
