Lecturer Pool - Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies AY 2026/27

The Department of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at California State University San Marcos accepts applications on an ongoing basis for our pool of part-time lecturers. Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool ad will only be good for the current academic year. This pool will be closed effective May 31st. If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, you will need to apply to the new pool as it becomes available by June 15th.

About the Role

This position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. This position is subject to employment verification, education verification, reference checks and criminal record checks. An offer of appointment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, including a criminal records check, and may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or related fields.
• Develop and maintain course materials, syllabi, and other instructional resources.
• Participate in departmental meetings and activities.
• Maintain regular office hours and provide student support.
• Engage in scholarly activity and professional development.

Requirements

• A master's degree in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or related field.
• At least one year teaching experience at the university or community college level.
• Experience teaching courses in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or related field.
• Demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community.

Qualifications

• A doctorate degree in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or related field.

Skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Benefits

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience. The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

Pay

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $8,000 per full-time month
