About the Department
The Department of Management offers courses and concentrations at both the undergraduate (BSBA) and graduate (MBA) levels in the following areas: Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Strategic Management and International Business, Information Technology Management, and Entrepreneurship. The department also provides courses in the MS in Business Analytics program. The department comprises 28 tenured and tenure-track faculty, along with a number of lecturers.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in the following areas:
- Human Resource and Organizational Behavior
- Information Technology Management
- Operations and Supply Chain Management
- Strategic Management/International Business
- Entrepreneurship
- Business Analytics combined with artificial intelligence (AI), leveraging machine learning, data mining, and deep learning
- Teaching assignments may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online.
- All faculty duties must be performed within the state of California.
Qualifications
- Minimum Degree Requirement: Master’s degree (or equivalent) in business or economics. Ph.D. in business or economics preferred.
- Degree from an AACSB accredited institution preferred.
- One of the following:
- Professional experience at the time of appointment that is significant in duration and level of responsibility, consistent with the area of teaching responsibilities.
- With a research Ph.D. in business or economics, a current research record in the teaching field.
- ABDs must have completed exams in the last three years.
Pay
Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. The salary schedule for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is as follows:
- Lecturer AY (Range 2): $5,507 - $6,677
- Lecturer AY (Range 3): $6,221 - $13,224
- Lecturer AY (Range 4): $6,825 - $14,523
- Lecturer AY (Range 5): $8,593 - $15,211
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization.
Schedule
Appointments may begin for Fall Semester (starts August 17, 2026) and/or Spring Semester (starts January 19, 2027). This is a part-time, temporary lecturer pool position from which instructors will be selected as openings arise.
Condition of Employment: All offers are contingent upon presentation of documents demonstrating identity and eligibility to work in the United States, as well as satisfactory completion of a background check (including criminal records, academic credentials, licenses, certificates, credit history, and employment verification). The university issues conditional offers of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information.
