California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PHYS 201: Physics of Mechanics and Sound in the Department of Physics, College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
About the Role
A broad coverage of the principles of mechanics and wave motion. The areas covered include: observation and measurement, kinematics, dynamics, work and energy, impulse and momentum, equilibrium of rigid bodies, rotational motion, oscillations, and waves in mechanical media.
Schedule
- Two (2) in-person sections available:
- Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 10:30 a.m. – 11:20 a.m.
- Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.
Requirements
- A master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Physics and related fields.
- Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.
Qualifications
- A doctorate or equivalent in Physics and related fields.
- Experience teaching similar courses in 4-year universities.
- Demonstrated intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.
Pay
- Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,008 per full-time month (anticipated hiring range).
- Lecturer B: $6,221 – $7,045 per full-time month (anticipated hiring range).
Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The salary schedule ranges are:
- Lecturer A – Academic Year: $5,507 – $6,677 per full-time month.
- Lecturer B – Academic Year: $6,221 – $13,224 per full-time month.
