Lecturer of Collaborative Piano

Central Washington University is recruiting a Lecturer of Collaborative Piano to join our Music team in Ellensburg, Washington. This campus-based position plays a key role in enhancing the university’s vision and directly impacts student lives.

Responsibilities

• Coach and rehearse with undergraduate instrumentalists (strings and winds).
• Teach collaborative piano practicum.
• Perform in student degree recitals and collaborate with faculty and guest artists.
• Coordinate area collaborative assignments under the supervision of the Director of Keyboard and Department Chair.
• Complete 40 hours per week of collaborative and accompanying work in recitals, studio classes, and lessons.

Requirements

• Master of Music (MM) in Collaborative Piano or a related field with a focus on collaborative piano.
• Comprehensive knowledge of various musical styles.
• Experience performing difficult Romantic and contemporary repertoire.
• Demonstrated fluency in keyboard skills.
• Ability to coach instrumentalists in a variety of settings.
• Strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completed DMA in collaborative piano (or Master’s in piano performance with extensive collaborative experience).
• Demonstrated participation in programs promoting student success.
• Experience or interest in mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.
• Potential to mentor and educate students who will serve pluralistic populations.

Pay

Annual salary: $45,000 - $60,000 for a full-time nine-month appointment. Individual placement within the range is based on experience, education, skills, and abilities.

Schedule

• Temporary, non-tenure-track, 9-month appointment (mid-September through mid-June).
• Additional summer teaching may be available.
