About the role
Performance Studies lessons are coordinated between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. If lessons are needed outside of this time, approval is required from the School Director(s). Staff are not expected to work outside of individual lessons. Any additional hours for performances, auditions, or other events must be approved in writing in advance by the School Director(s). This position requires reporting to the School Director(s) in case of absence or rescheduling of students.
Responsibilities
- Arrange one-on-one meetings with students to practice and refine skills.
- Help students work on areas needing improvement and encourage them to challenge themselves.
- Foster a healthy and supportive learning environment.
- Identify when students need additional support and communicate placement concerns to full-time Music faculty and the School Director(s).
- Submit a log of students met with to support hours logged by the end of the day on Friday of that week.
- Hours are limited to contact hours for Performance Studies lessons unless otherwise approved in writing.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree (minimum acceptable education).
Skills
- Proficiency in instrument of specialty.
- Ability to work well with students.
- Ability to work with multiple schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years prior teaching experience at the University level or in a private studio.
- Master’s degree in instrument of specialty, pedagogy, performance, or Music Education.
- Some professional performance experience.
Pay
$50/hour
