Lecturer in Counseling Psychology

Iowa State University’s Department of Psychology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences seeks a part-time Lecturer for the Spring 2027 semester to teach an in-person graduate course in group counseling within the Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program.

About the role

The successful candidate will teach a graduate-level course focused on the theory and practice of group counseling. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering instruction, facilitating experiential learning activities, evaluating student performance, and providing doctoral-level feedback and guidance.

This is a term faculty appointment beginning January 1, 2027 and ending May 15, 2027.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver in-person graduate course instruction in group counseling
• Facilitate experiential learning activities
• Evaluate student learning and provide feedback consistent with doctoral-level training in counseling psychology

Requirements

• Master’s degree in counseling or clinical psychology by the start date of the appointment
• Training or professional experience in group counseling or group psychotherapy

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in counseling or clinical psychology
• Experience providing group counseling or psychotherapy
• Experience working with or training doctoral students in counseling psychology
• Evidence of effective teaching
• Current licensure as a psychologist
