About the Role

The Department of Communication seeks part-time lecturers for the following in-person courses in Fall 2026 (semester begins September 1, 2026):

  • COMM 100: Communication in Everyday Life – T/TH 14:30-15:50pm
  • COMM 103: Public Speaking – MWF 9:05-10:00am, T/TH 10:45-12:05pm, T/TH 16:00-17:20pm
  • COMM 230: Communication, Media, and Democracy – MWF 10:10-11:05am, MWF 13:25-14:20pm
  • COMM 455: Interviewing and Negotiation – T/TH 14:30-15:50pm
  • COMM 462: Political Communication – TUES 18:00-20:50pm

Lecturers may teach up to 6 units per semester. This position is part of the Non-tenure Track Bargaining Unit under the University’s Agreement with SEIU Local 721.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in communication or a closely related field (completed at the time of appointment)
  • Demonstrated experience teaching at the university level
  • Ability to teach courses and hold office hours in person
  • Evidence of effective teaching

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in communication
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching
  • Preference given to candidates who can teach both lower and upper division courses

Pay

Compensation is paid bi-weekly at a per-unit rate of $2,581–$2,659, commensurate with qualifications.
