Lecturer AY - Simulation Lab Instructor
About the role
To plan, develop, and teach pre/post licensure students in the CSU Channel Islands nursing simulation laboratory; assist students to acquire skills competency with the use of technology and simulation education; collaboration with didactic faculty and clinical faculty leads in simulation lab curriculum development and delivery based on best practices in simulation education; Co-Chair the Emerging Technologies in Teaching Sub-committee; Preparation and management of simulation instructional experiences; oversight of lab ordering of equipment, materials, and supplies; assess and instruct students who have been referred for clinical coaching by their clinical instructor; plan and staff open lab hours.
Responsibilities
- Teaching and office hours. Assignment may include day, evening, night, and weekend classes/labs.
Requirements
Minimum Degree Requirements: Applicants must have a minimum of a bachelorette degree in nursing with a master’s degree in nursing or related field in progress from an accredited institution.
Required Qualifications: Possession of, or eligibility for a California RN license. At least two-years of continuous full-time experience in medical surgical direct patient care or clinical teaching as an RN within the last 2 years or eligibility for CA Board of Registered Nursing approval to teach medical surgical nursing. Experience with multimodal simulation methodologies such as task trainers, patient simulators, virtual reality, screen-based simulators, and standardized patients. Ability to work independently and supervise others; strong commitment to innovation, quality and collaboration; strong commitment to student success; willingness to be flexible in schedule. Ability to manage time and organize priority projects; experience and coaching and mentoring students needing remediation and extra support. Excellent communication and collaborative skills. A willingness to work in the lab during the summer session. Willing to obtain Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certification within 12 months of employment.

Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications: Masters in nursing from an accredited college or university which includes course work in nursing or education or MSN in progress; minimum of two years of experience teaching in pre or post-licensure programs. Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)
