About the Department of Agribusiness & Food Industry Management/Agricultural Science

The department offers business-related courses with a focus on food and agriculture, including accounting, economics, finance, management, and marketing. Specialized classes cover agricultural policy, history of agriculture, international development, and agricultural ethics. The department provides popular general education courses and emphasizes community engagement through service-learning and micro-internships. About the Role

The Temporary Faculty Pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Candidates may be required to begin teaching on short notice. The fall term runs from late August to mid-December, and the spring term from mid-January to mid-May. Summer session teaching opportunities may also be available.

We seek experienced, student-centered individuals to teach in the following subject areas:

• Ethical Issues in Food, Agriculture, and Apparel Industries
• Accounting for Agribusiness
• Financial Analysis for Agribusiness
• Agribusiness Personnel Management
• Global Resources for Food
• Equine Enterprise Management
• Equine Appraisal and Evaluation

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in the department’s curriculum.
• Hold weekly office hours based on assigned teaching unit load.
• Teach day, evening, and/or weekend courses as assigned.
• Attendance at department meetings and events is encouraged but not required.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Agribusiness, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Science, History, Philosophy, or a related discipline relevant to the curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. in Agribusiness, Economics, Agricultural Economics, or a related discipline.
• Prior teaching experience at the college or university level, with evidence of strong teaching.
• Knowledge of assessment practices.

Pay

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background. Appointments are for one semester only and are prorated based on the number of units worked. The anticipated hiring range is up to $6,221 per month, depending on qualifications. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges are:

• Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677 per month
• Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224 per month
• Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523 per month
• Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211 per month
