Lecturer

Job Summary

The Department of Psychology at the University of Wisconsin- Madison seeks a lecturer to teach Psychology 202 - "Introduction to Psychology" (3 credits) for the Fall 2026 semester. The position runs from August 17 – December 30, 2026, with the possibility of extension or conversion to an ongoing appointment.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
• Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
• Holds office hours
• Supervises one teaching assistant

Required Qualifications

• Minimum one year of experience teaching in higher education, preferably at a large enrollment institution
• Demonstrated competence in teaching
• Possess current knowledge and background in Psychology
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Experience and expertise in student assessment
• Ability to work and complete tasks under deadline pressures
• Evidence of high degree of initiative and resourcefulness
• Proven success and effectiveness in working both independently and in teams

Education

• Masters Degree in Psychology or relevant area required
• Demonstrated expertise in area of specialization required
• PhD or other terminal degree preferred, or a degree at least one level above the level of instruction, or otherwise approved as qualified by the Dean
