About the role
The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Smith College invites applications for a renewable three-year benefits-eligible position at the rank of Lecturer, to begin July 1, 2027. Teaching responsibilities for this position will regularly include five courses, mainly Korean language courses; occasionally a course on Korean culture taught in English. Other courses may be taught depending upon the candidate’s field of specialization.
Responsibilities
- Teach five courses per year, including Korean language courses and potentially a course on Korean culture taught in English.
- Teach other courses as needed based on the candidate's field of specialization.
Requirements
- A native or near-native fluency in Korean and English.
- Experience in language teaching at all levels.
- A Master’s degree in Korean language pedagogy or a related field by the time of appointment.

Benefits
A competitive benefits package is offered, with a starting pay range of typically between $78,300-$80,400. Actual compensation will vary based on individual qualifications.
