Lecturer
Job Summary
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks a lecturer to provide classroom instruction for undergraduate and graduate students in the Fall 2026 semester. The course of instruction is CIV ENGR 427, Solid and Hazardous Wastes Engineering. This course introduces students to basic concepts in designing, evaluating, and operating solid wastes storage, collection, and disposal systems; waste reduction, resource recovery, incineration and land disposal methods; hazardous wastes engineering; legal, political, and administrative considerations.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
- Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
- Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations

Compensation
The starting salary for this position is $72,000, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
Required Qualifications
- Professional engineering licensure or a minimum of four years experience in civil or environmental engineering design
- Four years of experience with design of solid and hazardous waste facilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in engineering software, including AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, SketchUp
- Experience in curriculum development
- Experience in designing implementing, and facilitating active and blended learning techniques
- Experience with Learning Management Systems
Education
A Master's degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
