Lecturer - AIS 420: American Indian Leadership: Sustaining Indigenous Knowledge (Fall 2026)
The Department of American Indian Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach AIS 420: American Indian Leadership: Sustaining Indigenous Knowledge.
About the role:
This course considers leadership from an American Indian/Indigenous perspective, focusing on themes such as tribal sovereignty, tribal knowledge, and social justice.
Responsibilities:
Covers traditional approaches to leadership that are valued and applicable in contemporary times, as well as current leadership issues and challenges related to tribal sovereignty, self-determination, governance, decision-making, values, culture, and policy development and implementation.
Requirements:
A master's degree or equivalent in American Indian Studies or related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
Higher education teaching experience preferred. Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community.
- Salary: Commensurate with degree level and experience. Anticipated hiring salary range: $5,507 - $8,000 per full-time month.
