The Department of American Indian Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach AIS 290: American Indian Education: Equity and Social Justice. About the role
This position is a part-time lecturer role. The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. The salary is commensurate with degree level and experience.
Responsibilities
- Teach AIS 290: American Indian Education: Equity and Social Justice in a manner that compares and contrasts American Indian traditional systems of knowledge with western constructs.
- Provide an introduction to the legacy of Indian Boarding School policies.
- Evaluate contemporary challenges faced by American Indians in educational systems, such as high dropout rates, low college matriculation rates, and the impact of cultural differences.
Requirements
- A master's degree or equivalent in American Indian Studies or related discipline.
- Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community.
Qualifications
- Higher education teaching experience preferred.
