Position Overview
Southeast Connections, LLC provides inclusive infrastructure solutions for the natural gas industry. We construct the systems and facilities to transport the nation's cleanest burning energy resource. The Welder is responsible for performing welding tasks essential to the installation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas pipelines.
Essential Functions
- Perform welding operations for the installation, maintenance, and repair of natural gas pipelines.
- Operate torches, power supplies, and welding equipment to fuse metal components securely.
- Strike arcs by touching electrodes to metal surfaces, completing electrical circuits.
- Assist in pipeline construction, repair, and integrity maintenance.
- Work in various environments, including job sites and fabrication shops.
- Must be able to pass pipe welding test for various gas companies, conforming with ASME certification requirements.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety protocols, and quality standards.
Qualifications/Special Knowledge Skills
- API 1104 Certified
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient knowledge of gas installation techniques and industry standards
- Exhibits ability to think practically and creatively to implement the best safety practices
- Responds quickly and efficiently to emergency situations while remaining calm in a crisis
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required
- OQ (Operator Qualification) certification in pipeline welding preferred
- Three (3) years of welding experience preferred
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to talk and listen
- Often required to stand, walk, and use hands/fingers
- Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, and weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours
- Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently
- Able to climb a minimum of 5 rungs of an extension ladder
- Able to work in outside environments being subjected to weather changes, noise, vibrations, and job hazards
