About the role
The Leaves and Staffing Specialist processes information to facilitate employment and payment of employees, responds to questions from employees, applicants, and administrators, and processes leave of absence requests following federal, state, and local guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and sends letters for all personnel changes including hiring, transfers, assignment changes, and resignations.
- Reviews and processes leave of absence requests submitted by employees for accuracy and approval by following Federal, State, and local guidelines; prepares and sends timely notification letters to employees regarding the status of leave requests.
- Provides office support for the human resource administrator such as word processing, maintaining spreadsheets, and call routing.
- Provides effective customer service to telephone, email, and walk-in inquiries.
- Participates in Leaves and Staffing Specialists' meetings, trainings, and activities.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point; Google Apps;
- Working knowledge of database systems and spreadsheets with the ability to analyze and organize data;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Ability to meet departmental and payroll deadlines;
- Ability to minimize errors with attention to detail;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a team member;
- Ability to work independently, complete tasks, and exercise independent judgment in the absence of clear directives;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Three years of clerical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Oracle business applications;
- Experience with Human Resources work functions;
- Knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) guidelines.
