About the role
As a Learning Mentor, you will support autistic pupils with complex SEND needs, helping them access learning, develop confidence, and build independence within a structured, nurturing environment.
You will act as a positive role model, prepare learning resources, deliver personalized support, and collaborate with teachers and multidisciplinary teams to embed therapeutic, pupil-centered approaches.
Your role includes supporting communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and behavior, while encouraging engagement and promoting wellbeing.
Maintaining accurate pupil progress records and providing feedback to staff are also key duties.
Requirements
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting children with SEND—preferably autistic pupils
- Resilience, empathy, and a proactive attitude
- A strong commitment to high professional standards and continuous improvement
Qualifications
Previous experience in SEND settings is highly desirable.
