About the role

As a Learning Coach (Guide) at Alpha, you will work with K‑3 students, guiding them through AI‑adaptive core learning, leading structured‑literacy workshops and life‑skills activities, and providing targeted reading interventions while staying with the same students from morning launch to closing.

Responsibilities

• Run short structured‑literacy workshops with 2‑4 students, diagnose phonics or decoding gaps from running records and fluency probes, teach a designed sequence, and verify transfer
• Coach students through app‑based core learning: identify who has stalled, ask the question that unsticks them, and hold daily goals
• Lead morning launch, life‑skills workshops, and check‑chart activities that keep six‑year‑olds moving
• Drive students to weekly app goals using school currency, leaderboards, and age‑appropriate gamification
• Stay with students through lunch, recess, and closing, meeting refusal and frustration with individualized plans

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any subject
• At least 3 years working directly with children ages 4‑9
• At least 2 years of that experience teaching reading in grades K‑3 within the last 5 years
• Completed structured‑literacy training (e.g., LETRS, IMSE, Orton‑Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, Fundations, UFLI, CERI, Neuhaus, SIPPS, Really Great Reading) or a master’s in reading/literacy
• Legally authorized to work in the US without visa sponsorship
