Position Summary

We are seeking an innovative and hands-on Learning & Development (L&D) Manager to lead the design, development, delivery, and continuous improvement of our organization's learning ecosystem. This role is responsible for creating scalable, engaging, and business-driven learning solutions that support leadership development, safety, compliance, operations, and professional growth across the organization.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Design, develop, and facilitate leadership development programs for frontline supervisors, emerging leaders, managers, and senior leaders.

  • Partner with executives and department leaders to identify leadership competency gaps and translate them into meaningful learning solutions.

  • Build blended learning experiences including instructor-led workshops, virtual learning, coaching, e-learning, cohort programs, and self-paced development.

  • Support succession planning by creating leadership pathways that prepare employees for future growth opportunities.

  • Measure leadership program effectiveness through assessments, learner feedback, behavior change, and business outcomes.

  • Partner on the development and ongoing management of company-wide safety, compliance, operational, and regulatory training programs.

  • Partner with Safety, Operations, Compliance, HR, Legal, and other subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify training needs and develop engaging learning content.

  • Ensure required compliance training remains current with federal, state, provincial, and company regulations.

  • Develop standardized onboarding and operational training programs that improve consistency across locations.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying operational knowledge gaps and translating them into effective learning solutions.

  • Monitor required certifications, recurring compliance training, and completion requirements through the LMS.

  • Partner with SMEs across the organization to design, develop, and maintain high-quality learning content that supports business objectives.

  • Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, etc.) to create engaging instructor-led, virtual, and digital learning experiences.

  • Develop facilitator guides, learner workbooks, job aids, microlearning modules, videos, assessments, and reference materials.

  • Ensure all learning materials reflect company branding, policies, and operational standards.

  • Continuously evaluate and refresh existing training content to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and relevance.

  • Serve as the primary administrator for the Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Manage course creation, learning paths, enrollments, certifications, reporting, permissions, and system maintenance.

  • Organize and maintain LMS architecture including course catalogs, tagging, learning plans, and certifications.

  • Monitor completion rates, compliance deadlines, learner engagement, and overall system performance.

  • Troubleshoot LMS issues and partner with vendors on enhancements, upgrades, and integrations.

  • Generate reports and dashboards that provide actionable learning insights to business leaders.

  • Utilize AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Synthesia, and AI-enabled authoring platforms) to accelerate instructional design, content creation, assessments, scenario development, and multimedia production.

  • Develop repeatable AI workflows that improve efficiency while maintaining instructional quality and brand consistency.

  • Stay informed on emerging learning technologies and AI trends to continuously modernize the organization's learning strategy.

  • Review and validate AI-generated content to ensure accuracy, compliance, and instructional effectiveness before deployment.

  • Conduct organizational training needs analyses in partnership with HR Business Partners and department leaders.

  • Manage the complete learning lifecycle from needs assessment through design, development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.

  • Develop annual learning roadmaps aligned with organizational goals and business priorities.

  • Track and report on learning KPIs including completion rates, learner engagement, knowledge retention, compliance metrics, and business impact.

  • Manage relationships with external vendors, facilitators, and learning partners.

  • Administer the Learning & Development budget, including technology, content subscriptions, and external training programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years of experience in Learning & Development, Talent Development, Organizational Development, or Instructional Design.

  • Experience developing leadership, compliance, operational, and safety training programs.

  • Hands-on experience administering an LMS (Cornerstone, Workday Learning, Docebo, Absorb, TalentLMS, or similar).

  • Practical experience using AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Synthesia, generative authoring platforms, etc.) to accelerate learning content development.

  • Strong instructional design skills and understanding of adult learning theory.

  • Excellent facilitation, project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience within a multi-location organization.

  • Experience supporting field operations, manufacturing, transportation, automotive, dealership, or industrial environments.

  • Experience developing safety and compliance training programs.

  • Familiarity with Articulate 360, Rise, Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, or similar authoring tools.

  • ATD, CPTD, instructional design, or learning technology certification.

  • Experience measuring learning effectiveness using Kirkpatrick or similar evaluation models.

  • Background in organizational change management, coaching, or leadership development.
