Leadership & Professional Development Associate Director

About the role
As a trusted advisor to senior and executive leaders, you will assess organizational needs, shape leadership development strategy, design scalable solutions, and build a high-impact LPD function in EdPlus. This is an opportunity to build and scale LPD at EdPlus. Initially, you will personally design and facilitate many programs while establishing the vision, operating model, and foundation for future growth. You must be comfortable with both operating strategically with executives and rolling up your sleeves to facilitate workshops, coach leaders, and launch new initiatives. Success means building the leadership capability and skills that enable EdPlus—and its people—to thrive.
ASU EdPlus is a dynamic unit of Arizona State University focused on the design and scalable delivery of digital teaching and learning models to increase student success and reduce barriers to achievement in higher education. We advance the economic, social, cultural, and overall health of the local, national, and international communities served by ASU.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the EdPlus Leadership & Professional Development strategy through consulting with senior and executive leaders, aligning with organizational priorities and organizational capability.
- Build leadership capability by assessing needs and program effectiveness; recommend, create, and facilitate programs; curate content to support employee and manager needs; design leadership frameworks, manager development pathways, and succession strategies.
- Design scalable development experiences that improve employee effectiveness and organizational performance.
- Coach and advise leaders to strengthen leadership effectiveness, team performance, and organizational capability.
- Coordinate or assume other duties or projects as assigned or directed.
This is an in-person, hybrid position. You must be able to commute to Scottsdale, Arizona, at least three days per week.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and seven (7) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field including two (2) years managerial experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in leadership and professional development, organizational development, or executive learning, including three years or more in a leadership role.
- Experience working in higher education, preferably at ASU or a similar institution.
- Experience partnering with and advising senior executives and leadership teams.
- Experience assessing needs and program effectiveness; recommending, creating, and facilitating programs; curating content to support employee and manager needs; and designing and implementing leadership development frameworks and succession strategies.
- Evidence of a very high level of skill and professionalism in communicating, presenting, and facilitating.
- Evidence of deep knowledge of adult learning theory, organizational effectiveness, employee development, and industry trends for leadership and professional development.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing, results-driven environment subject to changing priorities and ambiguity.
- Evidence of a positive attitude, a willingness to get things done and help when needed, a curious mindset, and a solutions-based approach.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field; master’s degree preferred.

Pay
$85,000 - $95,000 per year, depending on experience.

ASU EdPlus supports flexible work options, ranging from alternate to hybrid work schedules, subject to approvals per ASU policy. This is an in-person, hybrid position.
